SAN BERNARDINO, California - September 29, 2021, Monica Rosales- “Say yes to opportunities because you never know where it may take you” was the advice given to her by her parents. A Junior Publicist for Coeur Communication who accredits her current position to being proactive within her career. She shared her knowledge on the journey from Cal State University of San Bernardino (CSUSB) student, to intern, to being full-time at a Public Relations firm.

Coming from the small town of Rancho Cucamonga, Rosales pushed herself, worked hard, and often had to get out of her comfort zone while attending CSUSB to pursue her dream career working as a publicist.

On Wednesday, Sept. 22, Rosales live-streamed with Coyote PR on Instagram sharing her knowledge and answering questions. She received overwhelming support from CSUSB students. “Her ability to stay genuine and true to herself in an industry that is so competitive, is motivating to witness,” says Amani, a CSUSB student. Early last year, the COVID-19 pandemic caused her internship location to close its doors. Rosales shared her struggles with imposter syndrome, due to the industry's competitive nature. Through her networking skills, she created opportunities, helping to land this current position. Networking through hands-on experience has taught her the right way to assist clients. Life in PR isn’t just about attending events on the red carpet, but also speaking with and helping clients to network with publicists, editors, and more.

Working as a publicist in the entertainment industry is competitive, and at times has led her to doubt her abilities. Rosales’ mindset keeps her going. By remembering how she got to where she is today and knowing she is deserving of new opportunities. Rosales wraps up her story with some of her own motivational experiences “Someone saw my passion and drive and gave me an opportunity. Obviously, people are believing in me, so why can’t I believe in myself.”
